Welcome to Claxton Country Squares!

Claxton Country Squares (CCS) is a square dance club in the Western Square Dance tradition. We are one of East Tennessee's finest Square Dance Clubs located near Knoxville, Oak Ridge, Clinton, and the beautiful Smoky Mountains.

We welcome dancers at all levels. Our goal is to provide a time and place for all to enjoy dancing in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Dances are held on the first and fourth Saturday of the month at the Claxton Community Center (directions). Our caller, Mike Hoose, is one of the best square dance callers and instructors in the United States. Come and join the fun!

OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR LESSONS

Each year in the fall, Claxton Country Squares offers beginning square dance lessons.

Classes traditionally start the first Monday after Labor Day and the first two lessons are free. This gives you the opportunity to try it out. We bet you will end up loving it! (After the trial period, lessons are $6 per person per class; pay as you go, no contracts and no advance payment required.)

From the very first lesson, you will learn a few basic calls and you will be dancing that night. As lessons progress you will learn new calls while continuing to practice previous calls. Each lesson includes plenty of review to help build your muscle memory of the steps and calls.

Enrollment for new students ends at the end of September as anyone joining later would be too far behind to catch up. So why wait? This is the perfect time for you to give it a whirl!
